Ever wish you could explore our marvelous moon? Now you can—sort of. Thanks to this lunar-inspired jigsaw puzzle, you can traverse the surface through a challenging series of 186 wooden pieces. Design studio Nervous System has created this version of the moon by converting it into a tiling jigsaw that’s based on an icosahedral projection. This means that there are no set edges and the pieces wrap around one another to make it extra challenging while also allowing you to assemble it in an endless number of ways. Each time you play with the Moon Puzzle, imagine that you’re taking a walk over Earth’s satellite.
- The Moon Puzzle contains 186 pieces and is made of birch plywood.
- Three special-shaped "whimsy" pieces depict an astronaut, space shuttle, and a lunar lander.
- The puzzle’s surface decoration is based on photographs from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter.
- This jigsaw is infinitely reconfigurable and has no edges or fixed shape.
